S.O.L is Tim Lacey (1972), a London based
artist with a prolific background in
music production, film, editing and
design. SOL’s sculptural artworks draw
together his love for the hedonism
of UK sub-culture, including the punk and rave scenes, with
rigorous material experimentation. His multilayered acrylic works
are meticulously designed to create the illusion of an image
suspended in space, which shifts and transforms according to the viewer’s perspective. Inspired by the use of the “parallax shift”
effect, a visual technique used in film, this creates an immersive
perceptual experience, and aims to capture something of the
energy and atmosphere of subversive underground movements
