Matt Herring

I work out of my studio in South London where I create analogue collages, silkscreen prints and digital art.

Through my artwork, I like to bring the outside in, using vintage botanicals, birds, found and self-generated imagery inspired by the natural world. I humanise these natural elements to create a more modern, surreal aesthetic, but my ultimate intention is to remind the viewer that being close to nature is good for the soul.

I usually start with a clear vision of what I want to make, but it often evolves into something quite different, revealing itself through the creative process.

I’ve been an artist for over 20 years and as well as exhibiting and selling my work internationally, I’ve worked with notable global brands including Nike, Vogue and Vanity Fair. I was commissioned to create a piece for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee which was hung in the London Museum of Brands next to Tracey Emin and Banksy.
